Airlines Report No Tarmac Delays Over Three Hours on Domestic Flights, One Longer Than Four Hours on International Flights in March
Airlines reported no tarmac delays of more than three hours on domestic flights, but one tarmac delay of more than four hours on an international flight in March, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Air Travel Consumer Report released today.

Largest Airlines Report Reduced Net Loss in 4th Quarter of 2012
The largest scheduled passenger airlines reported a net loss of $145 million in the fourth quarter of 2012, improved from a loss of $602 million in the fourth quarter of 2011, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today in a release of preliminary data.

Freight Shipments Rose 0.3% in March from February
The amount of freight carried by the for-hire transportation industry rose 0.3 percent in March from February, rising for the fifth consecutive month, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ (BTS) Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI) released today.

4th-Quarter 2012 Domestic Air Fare Almost Unchanged from 4th Quarter 2011 (Adjusted for Inflation)
The average domestic air fare declined to $374 in the fourth quarter of 2012, down 0.5 percent from the average fare of $376 in the fourth quarter of 2011, measured in 2012 dollars (Table 1), the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today.
