December 28, 2004 Port of Los Angeles Is Top International Freight Gateway by Value in 2003, According to Bureau of Transportation Statistics
The Port of Los Angeles became the top U.S. international freight gateway by shipment value in 2003, according to a soon to be released report from the U.S. Department of Transportations Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Americas Freight Transportation Gateways shows that Los Angeles water port handled $17 billion in export trade and $105 billion in imports, totaling $122 billion in business handled by the port.

May 6, 2004 BTS Releases February Transportation Services Index (TSI); Index Reverses One-Month Decline to Reach Second Highest Level
The Transportation Services Index (TSI) increased 1.4 percent in February, rebounding from a drop in January to reach 120.4 (1996=100), the second highest level in the 14-year period covered by the index, the Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported today.

The Transportation Services Index (TSI) reached the highest level in the 14-year period covered by the index with a 1.0 percent rise in December, the Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported today in the first monthly release of the new index. The increase was the fourth consecutive monthly increase following a July to August decrease.
