Maritime Vessels Carry More Than Half of Growing U.S.–East Africa Trade
There were are combined $1.3 billion in U.S. exports in 2007 to five East African nations:
- Burundi
- Kenya
- Rwanda
- Tanzania
- Uganda
Modal breakdown of 2007 U.S.–East African trade:
- 57 percent by vessel
- 22 percent by air
- 21 percent by other modes–mostly U.S. shipments of aircraft to Kenya (the aircraft itself is the commodity being shipped)
