Demand on U.S Aviation System Continues to Increase

Airline passenger traffic grew by 61% from 1990 to 2011

Annual passengers peaked at 841 million in 2007

Passenger declined following the recession that began in December 2007. Airlines also reduced flights and capacity as their costs increased when fuel prices rose in 2008.

There has not been a complete recovery in the level of passenger travel.
