KEY:
Z - Less than half the unit shown. For the 2012 CFS, represents an estimate that is between zero and half the unit shown, thus, has rounded down to zero.

(1) Standard Classification of Transported Goods.
(2) Ton-miles estimates are based on estimated distances traveled along a modeled transportation network.
(3) Coefficient of Variation.
(4) Other prepared foodstuffs and fats and oils. Prior to the 2012 CFS, the Commodity Code 07 included “fats and oils” that were intended for use in biodiesel. In the 2012 CFS, biodiesel is listed in specific 5-digit SCTG codes under Commodity Code 18.
(5) Alcoholic beverages, and denatured Alcohol. For the 2012 CFS, Commodity Code 08 was modified, and alcohol intended for use as fuel, i.e. ethanol, was assigned under the listing of Commodity Code 17.
(6) Gasoline, aviation turbine fuel, and ethanol (includes kerosene and fuel alcohols). For the 2012 CFS, Commodity Code 17 was modified to include ethanol, fuel alcohols, and kerosene. In previous CFS cycles, fuel alcohols were not explicitly identified, and alcohols were classified under Commodity Code 08. Prior to 2012 CFS, kerosene which is mostly used as turbine fuel was classified under Commodity Code 19.
(7) Fuel oils (includes diesel, bunker C, and biodiesel). For the 2012 CFS, Commodity Code 18 was modified to include oils and fats that were for use in biodiesel. In previous CFS cycles, biodiesel was not specifically identified in the Standard Classification of Transported Goods. In the 2012 CFS, SCTG 18, was expanded to include blends of fuel oils and biodiesel.
(8) Coal and petroleum products, not elsewhere classified. For the CFS cycles prior to the 2012 CFS, kerosene was included under Commodity Code 19. In the 2012 CFS kerosene was moved to SCTG 17.

NOTES: These data are preliminary and are subject to change; they will be superseded by data released in later reports. Value-of-shipment estimates have not been adjusted for price changes. Estimated measures of sampling variability for each estimate known as coefficients of variation (CV) are also provided in these tables.
