Friday, October 19, 2012 - The U.S. Department of Transportation's Research and Innovative Technology Administration is supporting the 2012 UTC Spotlight Conference on Sustainable Energy and Transportation: Strategies, Research, and Data, to be held Nov. 8-9, 2012, in Washington, D.C. The conference, organized by the Transportation Research Board, is designed to promote dialogue and coordination among University Transportation Centers (UTCs), federal agencies, industry, and state and local agencies on research to address the complex and challenging issues concerning sustainable energy and transportation. The conference will focus on recently completed and ongoing research on sustainable energy and transportation being conducted by UTCs and others, and it will identify existing knowledge gaps and promising developments for future research. Daniel Sperling, director of the Institution of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Davis, is this year's conference keynote speaker and conference chair.
