Tuesday, December 8, 2009 - Flights operated by the nation's largest airlines arrived on time at a lower rate this past October than in either October of last year or in September 2009, according to the Air Travel Consumer Report released today by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).

DOT Awards Funds to Dallas, San Diego for New Technology Initiative to Fight Congestion

Monday, December 7, 2009 - In an historic step towards ending gridlock in urban areas across the country, the U.S. Department of Transportation today announced that the Dallas and San Diego areas will receive $14 million as the nation's first demonstration sites for new Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technologies that help fight congestion and enhance travel. The Integrated Corridor Management (ICM) initiative will help the Dallas and San Diego metro areas become "living laboratories" in the fight against congestion.

Friday, October 23, 2009 - The U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) today expanded its Key Transportation Indicators with the addition of new tables on Transit Ridership, U.S. Airline Load Factor, U.S. Airline Passengers, U.S. Airline Revenue Passenger Miles, and Amtrak Ticket Prices and Yields.

Friday, October 16, 2009 - BTS Update of National Transportation Statistics Includes Freight Ton-Miles Tabulations through 2007. The U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) today updated a special tabulation of ton-miles of freight by mode for 2007. BTS estimates for air, truck, rail, water, and pipelines were developed using a more comprehensive approach than was used in prior estimates.

As part of its mission to advance the use of technology to solve transportation problems, the Research and Innovative Technology Administration's Intelligent Transportation System's Joint Program Office, in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration's Freight Office, has developed new open software that helps industry deliver products to market more efficiently, while reducing congestion and harmful emissions on the nation's roadways.
